I'm running the demo. Spent some time trying to get my controls to
work (dusty MS Sidewinder 2?). Can't get the view button to work, and
the demo won't hold the settings once you shut down the game. I never
RTFM. If there is one, someone read it for me. Not sure what the
differences are between 'realistic' and 'sim' mode. In fact I barely
care cause I don't much do this anymore, but I was slumming at a game
site and noticed this WW2 demo. Been gone from this group a long while
as welI. I can't resist WW2 demos. I was born during WW2. I'm one of
those old guard guys who use to post here back when the earth was made
of ether, bile and snot. Rode a tank held a General's rank while the
Blitzkreig ran and the bodies stank...

If you like WWII and have a fairly modern computer do yourself a favor
and get IL2 1946 and update/patch it to the latest (4.09?) version.
That and BoBII (patched to 2.10?) are the best out there and most
likely will be for some time..

You can do a Direct Download of IL2 1946 here -
http://www.direct2drive.com/search.aspx?SearchTerm=IL-2&utm_source=Google&utm_medium=CPC&utm_campaign=D2D&_cmpid=d2d360&gclid=COqfjtO-hp8CFWpd5Qodem3NRg&esvtk_s=bgss

for $9.95. I believe you have to patch to 4.08m 1st, then patch to
4.09 but it's been a while..

As far as sims go I never got into IL-2 after buying the game when it
first came out. I recently installed it again on my newer rig and it
just doesn't move me. Aces High (online) on the other hand captivated
me for ages until they did away with free H2H (8 player). That was
everything a CFS should be. I would regularly get my ass kicked there.
I even joined for a few months recently. Is IL-2 1946 much different
than the original? Thanks for the suggestion though.
