Air combat in Battlefield3

Ok, it's from a poxy PS3, and you can't tell how "simmy" this canned, single player
mission will feel in flight on the PC (probably not much). But all the same, this
is the kind of thing I was looking forward to back in the 90s when we'd dream about
what the future held.

The section up at about 16 minutes, showing air to ground really took me back to
Tornado, and the low res graphics I hoped to see improved eventually in Tornado2.

I wasn't planning on picking up BF3 at full price, as I'm not really too bothered
about multiplayer. But I might change my mind just to get my hands on this mission.
It's unlikely to scratch the hardcore sim pilot's itch, but the fun factor might
just be there in a big way.

I've managed to resist so far. I am weakening though. :->

I just realised the link starts the movie up quite a way through, in the middle of
the least convincing part of the action. It was actually the first part, where you
get into the aircraft, which first got me a little over excited.

Ok, it's not something you'd run through before every mission, but it's the first
time I've seen a sequence like that which actually made me feel I really was
getting into an aircraft.

Then, later on, when I saw the ground attack stuff the Tornado 2 dreams started. I
suppose most dreams end in tears, but at least if the air combat in this is
disappointing you get a lot else to occupy you... even if that's only going online
occasionally to get shot repeatedly by 13 year olds. :-)
