From the vids I've seen it still looks like LOMAC, with all its flaws, to me. Sure,
the BS & A-10 lift individual aircraft into a new level of detailed cockpitacity*.
But overall I'm still wishing they'd been able to dump this engine and start
properly from scratch with the DCS series. Preferably with the Su-27... a bitter &
twisted Flankerista writes. :->

I will still buy A-10 eventually, but it's a bit (ok, a lot) expensive for me to
justify for part time frolics in the beta. I'm far more excited by Oleg's project.
Now that is looking pretty special to me. Some of the recent screenshots and info
have really re-lit my flight sim candle.

In life anticipation is so often more enjoyable than the delivered reality, so
let's just enjoy this extended opportunity to wait.... and wait.... and wait. :-)

I have tried not to pay much attention to this project really, but sometimes you
see recent screenshots or movie clips and start to feel irrational surges of
excitement. That happened to me last week when I saw the shots on this page.

I'm not sure where they came from originally; probably the official pages, wherever
they are. I'm getting lazy in my old age. :-)

"Pre-purchase of "DCS: A-10C Warthog" also provides access to Beta versions of the game and
access to a closed Beta forum. Betas will be updated during development."
Hmmmmm..... pretty tempting...

Wow, very nice shots there - those tanks look awesome.

I still have loaded and play occasionally IL2, and still love it. Really
looking forward to this new one, whenever it does come out.

LOL, well, I did buy it (have BS too but never really got into it that
much) as I always loved the hog and the airport near us used to have a
squadron stationed there until the Gulf War got them transferred
out... For a beta it's not too bad, obviously still needs some work
but I will await for the final release before I start bitching about
what I don't like about it. :)

Yes, me too! Can't wait to see what Oleg comes out with this time as I
still play Il-2 with my squadmates 3x a week. Will be nice to have a
much improved engine. I'll be curious to see whether my prediction 2-3
years ago that it would be out by X'Mas this year will come true or
not. I'm pretty doubtful at this point though. :(

Well, I am -- as I said -- bitter & twisted. :-) I fell out with the LOMAC engine
about five years ago when I started to get the feeling they'd already sold me the
same code five or six times with a lick of programming paint on it. Only yesterday
I saw a vid someone had made with the beta, and when an aircraft crash-landed it
went from great physics to canned explosion just like every version of ED's engine
since the dawn of time.

That just confirmed my natural inclination to sceptical about their projects. Still,
as we used to say around here about a decade ago, any sim is better than no sim!
Which is why I'll buy it eventually. I just don't expect to fly it much, as was the
case with BS and the 25T. Great aircraft modelling, but the environment you use it
in has never been able to keep me immersed for long. That was true for Flanker1,
and it's true for me today.

Mind you, I had the same trouble with IL2 in all its forms. I suspect it's a
Russian thing. Or a me thing. :-)

My money is on it being finished by about 2012, just in time for the Mayan
Apocalypse. The first sign of this fatal coincidence will be the second coming of
Papa Doc and his war on Error.

times a week and a shot at PD and maybe there is hope!

And 6 new posts here in one day!

Man ain't that the truth.
I remember when this group had a ton of new messages daily, some of the
developers posted here, etc...
Those were the days,

A few guys in my squad have it and are giving it a good go. Personally
I'm waiting at least until the networking is working properly. When it's
actually released I'd say that we'll be flying it quite a bit.
